Community Learning

Marianne is gathering experience in the design and delivery workshops to the local community.

"I understand that the ownership of art can be challenging, instead I am focusing on the delivery of a creative service that invites individuals to participate directly in the process of creating and making."

Messy Morning - Family Workshop, Project 24-Bangor, August 2014

Messy mornings

Marianne has created and delivers“Messy Mornings”,  which are family art workshops, that not only provide activities for families to do, but also adds colour to under used town centre space.

Messy Mornings currently offers weekly workshops at Boom! Studios, Bangor for "Little Messers" ( 0 - 5 years) and older kids "Get Messy - After School Club"

UnSeen Stitches

This ongoing project is in partnership with  local Occupational Therapist Victoria Croft.

Marianne and Victoria connected over a passion for positive motherhood and a passion for unique and vintage clothing.

Through the workshop recent mothers and their babies create a piece of textile art together. The process allows for mother and baby bonding and an opportunity for mothers to reflect on their journey into motherhood.

This project has been funded by Ards & North Down Borough Council and is currently being developed in partnership with North Down YMCA.

Boom! Studios

Following on from her experience as a "pod artist" in Project 24,Bangor, Marianne began the conversation of "what next?" Where do local artists, designers & creative enterprises work from? Collaborating with two local artists, that had also taken a pod at Project 24, Boom! Studios was established in January 2015.

Marianne has continued to nurture and develop Boom! as a volunteer co-ordinator. Boom! currently offers five studios for local creative enterprises, a space for workshops  and a small communication space. Boom! is working towards becoming a social enterprise with charitable status.

Partnership Working

Collaboration is important element to Marianne's work. She regularly works with local council to provide creative activity at larger events which include Culture Day, Bangor, Creative Peninsula and Project 24,  She is extending this to work with local organisations.
